Sapienza is the largest of the Messinian islands, just off Methoni — a Natura 2000 protected island with crystal-clear coves, a historic lighthouse and underwater Roman antiquities. It has no roads or inhabitants; you can only reach it by boat, and that’s exactly what makes it special.
How to get to Sapienza
The only way to get to Sapienza is by boat from Methoni, a short ~2.5 nautical miles / 20 minutes ride to the first beach, Ammos. You have two options: with captain (relax and listen to the island’s stories) or without captain (you drive yourself; for smaller boats, no license is required).
